Tikal is a popular attraction for visitors in Belize because of it close proximity to the Belize-Guatemala border. This site is one of the oldest and most powerful city states of the ancient Maya civilization with footprints of 6 square miles. Main attractions of this site are the enormous buildings, including Temple 1 (measuring 154 feet high), royal palaces, pyramids, ball courts, hundreds of smaller buildings and stelae. It takes 1.5 hours from Belize city to the border of Guatemala, then another 1.5 hour drive from the border to the Tikal site. Tours can be done as a day tour or an overnight tour.
Day Tour: consists of touring the site for 2.5 hours, after finishing the tour, lunch is provided and then we head back to Belize the same day.
Overnight Tour: consists of touring the site for 4 to 5 hours, the night will be spent in Flores de Petena, a colonial type Spanish village. The following day we head back to Belize, on the way you can stop to do cave tubing, zip lining, Belize Zoo or horseback riding for an additional cost.
